The Best Cocktails To Go in Pittsburgh

Cocktails to go in Pittsburgh

The wait is over, Pittsburgh! On May 21, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf signed a bill allowing select establishments to sell pre-mixed cocktails. Restaurants and hotels that offer takeout and curbside service and have lost 25 percent of their monthly revenue due to COVID-19 have been approved to sell cocktails to go across the state. Eligible businesses can continue their cocktail service to go for the duration of the pandemic as long as they are operating at 60 percent capacity or less.

If your bartending skills are lacking or you are ready to try something new, here are four Pittsburgh restaurants with cocktails to go.

Morcilla in Lawrenceville is offering their popular sangria, probably the best in Pittsburgh, for curbside delivery along with a selection of other cocktails. Sangria orders are available in white or red and they come with enough fixings for four small drinks plus fresh fruit and herb garnishes. The popular Spanish restaurant also has single serving to-go cocktails including the chartreuse-based Green Velvet, Aperol Fresa, and Xoriguer Gin de Mahon Gin and Tonic. Paired with a charcuterie plate, this is the perfect way to spend a quiet summer afternoon.

With locations across Pittsburgh, Burgatory can quickly quench any thirst with their four to-go cocktails. Try Mike’s Scratch Margarita, the Strawberry Basil Shag, the Bacon Mary, or the Swanked Up Long Island. All of these cocktails feature a unique twist on a classic favorite. From the splash of pomegranate juice in the margarita to the candied bacon in the Bloody Mary, these are definitely a step up from most home bartending experiences.

4four6 Distillery

4four6 is serving bottled cocktails for pick up at their tasting room. Each cocktail features one of the distillery’s spirits and comes in a sealed, packaged bottle with serving instructions. Available drinks are the Cranberry Clementine Car, Tom Collins, and Rum Seabreeze. Each cocktail comes in two sizes. A small bottle makes 2-3 drinks and is $12 plus tax. A big bottle makes 5-6 drinks and is $25 plus tax.

Alta Via

Alta Via has you covered for the ultimate in restaurant-quality curbside pickup. Choose from a variety of their menu standards or one of their customizable meals: the Date Night for Two, Family Dinner, or Lasagna for Four. Top it off with one of their to-go cocktails. There are three 5-ounce, single serving cocktails to choose from: the Grapefruit-Basil Margarita, Barrel-Aged Boulevardier, or the Via Manhattan.

Bonus: Hit up Hidden Harbor for Mocktails

Hidden Harbor in Squirrel Hill has teamed up with The Independent to serve mocktails. Their non-alcoholic version of the A is For Aloha is a refreshing blend of fresh-pressed lemon, pineapple, honey, and tropical fassionola syrup. The mocktail is delicious on its own, or you can add rum and shake with ice for a full cocktail experience. The mocktail kit is available for pickup or delivery along with a select menu of Caribbean, Asian, and American bites.
